Studying to be a vet
Each of the eight veterinary schools in Australia and New Zealand offers a degree that allows the graduate to practice as a veterinarian in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and in some other countries, depending on the school.
Some schools offer veterinary science as an undergraduate degree. Others offer it as a postgraduate degree, with students undertaking their veterinary studies after completing a suitable undergraduate degree.
Veterinary education in Australia and New Zealand is world class. Five Australasian schools were among the top 50 international schools in the 2016 QS World University Rankings. Australian and New Zealand veterinary graduates work all over the world in a range of careers.
